It was 1996, and finding a match often meant going to shastris, pandits or newspapers. A good match was a challenge in the changing times of the ‘90s.

As Indian values slowly transitioned from traditional to contemporary, there was one person who chose to walk the unconventional path and revolutionise the then underdeveloped matrimonial industry.

A pathfinder and a pioneer, Rashmi Kapoor was the first to address the need of the hour and establish Sycorian as early as 1996, paving the way to a more evolved matchmaking process.

With 30 years of expertise, Rashmi Kapoor is now considered a veteran and a matrimonial expert in Delhi NCR, where many have benefited from her skill and talent — be they counsellors who have worked with her, or families who interacted with her to find the right life partner.

What makes a good match in the current times?

While times have been changing dynamically, more so in the last decade, education and background are classic constants for those who wish to create stable marriages and relationships.

What advice do you have for young couples today?

The current generation is very influenced by social media, and photographs posted online have taken precedence over actually meeting in person and gauging for themselves. My advice to today’s youth is to look beyond the photographs and social media accounts and to take the time to meet people for real. A person is so much more than his or her profile online.

Why is Sycorian different from any other service?

Well for one, we have over 30 years of expertise and a very wide database. That makes the path forward really easy as there is always the right person somewhere. We at Sycorian function like a large family, and we have counsellors who have been with the company since its inception. They understand the finer points and nuances of matchmaking that most don’t even think about. There is very little that we haven’t experienced in all these years, and I have deep faith in their capacity to handle the most unusual or delicate situations.
